Editorial & Data Sourcing Policy
How CareerHelp researches, verifies, updates, and corrects the career data and guidance we publish.
What we publish
CareerHelp publishes two kinds of content: practical career guides (resume writing, job search strategy, interview preparation, company hiring guides) and data-driven statistics resources, including our Career Statistics Hub. Everything is written for job seekers first — we only create content when we have something genuinely useful to say, not to fill a publishing calendar.
Career advice and labor-market data influence real decisions about people's livelihoods. That is why our standards skew toward verifiability over speed: we would rather publish less, sourced properly, than more, sourced loosely.
Where our data comes from
Our occupational and salary data is built on the U.S. Department of Labor's O*NET occupational database and Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) salary data, used under CC BY 4.0 and adapted for career guidance. USDOL/ETA and BLS have not endorsed our modifications — we say so wherever the data appears, including in our site footer.
Market statistics (application volumes, interview conversion rates, hiring timelines) are compiled from published research by Glassdoor, LinkedIn Talent Solutions, and widely cited industry surveys such as Novoresume, Jobscan, and CareerBuilder. Every statistic we publish links to its origin — to the source's own site where one is available, or to the guide where we document the figure and its context in full.
How we verify numbers
A statistic is included only when at least two independent sources report comparable figures, or when it comes from a government dataset (BLS / O*NET). Where credible sources disagree, we publish the range rather than inventing a single point estimate, and we label estimates as estimates.
We do not fabricate statistics, interviews, expert quotes, or credentials. Where our guides describe typical experiences or outcomes, they are drawn from the cited research — not invented personas.
How we keep content current
Data pages are refreshed on a quarterly cycle, and each guide carries its own last-updated date. When a source revises a figure materially, we update the affected guides and the statistics hub within the same cycle.
Core SEO pages (metadata, canonical URLs, structured data) are reviewed whenever a guide is materially revised, so what search engines index matches what readers see.
How we use AI
We use AI in two transparent ways. First, our free tools (job description analysis, resume feedback, Career Blueprint Match) use AI models to analyze the inputs you provide — those tools are the product itself, and their outputs are advisory, not authoritative verdicts.
Second, AI assists our editorial workflow with drafting and research synthesis. Every published guide is human-reviewed against our sourcing standards before it goes live: sources checked, numbers traced to their origin, advice tested against the data. We do not publish unreviewed AI output.
Corrections
If you find an error — a wrong number, a broken source, misleading advice — tell us and we will fix it. Corrections are applied within one publishing cycle of confirmation, and materially revised figures get an updated last-modified date so the change is visible.
